With all the inconsistency we see in the NHL when it comes to suspensions, this has to be considered a harsh punishment. The NHL’s Department of Player Safety has suspended Toronto’s Nazem Kadri four games for his elbow to the head of Edmonton’s Matt Fraser on Monday. Kadri clipped Fraser with an elbow while racing for the puck behind the net. Kadri even attempted to apologize to Fraser right after he delivered that check, which drew a two-minute illegal check to the head minor. The hit appeared to be unintentional, but nonetheless left Fraser with a concussion. Kadri will also forfeit $141,463.41 in salary to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund. The reason for the harsh suspension is likely Kadri's reputation.He is considered a repeat offender as this is the second time Kadri’s been suspended in two years. In November of 2013, he was given a three-game ban for bowling over Minnesota goalie Niklas Backstrom. Here is the incident that resulted in Kadri being suspended:
