The Winter Olympic Games turned ugly this week during a clash between the nations of Canada and Sweden after things got heated on the frozen playing surface.

While Canada and Sweden are big rivals in the sport of hockey, this time the on-ice issues actually sprung up in the sport of curling during a match between Team Brad Jacobs, representing Canada, and Team Niklas Edin, representing Sweden. While you might be asking just how heated things might get during a curling match, this was a pretty serious situation with the Swedes accusing the Canadians of cheating during the match.

The accusation was made by Sweden's Oskar Eriksson who directed the accusation at Canada's Marc Kennedy after he claimed Kennedy was touching the curling stones in an illegal manner. Eriksson was very confident as he made the accusation, even claiming that the entire thing had been caught on video. That may very well have been the case as it was discussed and replayed heavily during the Swedish coverage of the event.

You can see the replay of the initial exchange as well as the angle recorded by the Swedes just below:

Kennedy has responded to the allegations by categorically denying them.

"I have a ton of respect for Oskar Eriksson," said Kennedy as per the National Post. "He’s one of the best players to ever play. I just told him … I would never accuse you of cheating. I’ve been on tour for 25 years. He pulled a hog line official on us to make sure we weren’t double-touching. The hog line official was there for six ends, never said a thing, and he’s still talking about it in the ninth end."

Canada would claim victory over Sweden, winning by a score of 8-6, but the victory has not come without some major controversy.
