The Red Wings are often pointed to as the model example of a North American sports franchise. However those who do so are usually referring to their consistency on the ice, not so much their off the ice  exploits. The video below showcases both, featuring the Red wings 1998 Stanley Cup victory, one that will hold a special place in the hearts of Red Wing fans and Russian hockey fans alike. After the teams big win Red Wings legend Steve Yzerman presented the cup to a very special member of the team, Vladimir Konstantinov. Konstantinov had his NHL career cut short the year before after a limousine driver who had his license suspended for drinking and driving crash a limo carrying Konstantinov and two other members of the Red Wings. Despite not being able to play hockey ever again, the Red Wings reached out to commissioner Gary Bettman and asked that Konstantinov's name be added to the cup, he agreed. A truly unforgettable Red Wings moment.
