A report from the Langley Advance published earlier today has indicated that former NHL player Stephen Boyd Peat has surrender himself to police for allegedly burning down the home owned by his father, Walter Peat. More from the Post:
The home that burned in Brookswood is listed as the residence of a Walter Peat. The RCMP reported last week that they were looking for the adult son of the homeowner following the fire.
It is believed that Stephen Peat set fire to the home with his father still inside the building, it's unclear whether or not he was intending to harm his father in the incident.
Peat has been charged with one count of arson with a disregard for human life, and one count of arson causing damage to property.
According to a report from police Stephen and Walter Peat had been engaged in an argument on the 17th of March, one that carried late into the night. The damage to the house and Walter Peat could have been far more serious if not for the intervention of an eye witness to the crime. Peat was drafted by the Anaheim Ducks in  1998 before being traded to the Washington Capitals. He played in 130 NHL games.
