Every once in a while you see a true act of aggression on the ice. Look no further than former Toronto Maple Leafs enforcer, André Deveaux, who is currently playing for Rogle BK in Sweden's second-tier professional league. During the warm-ups of a playoff game Rogle and VIK Vasteras HK, Deveaux brutally attacked oppossing player Per Helmersson while he had his back turned. Deveaux rushes the player from behind and hacks his ankles before cracking him in the back of the head with his stick. The incident occurred three days ago and footage of the malicious act only surfaced early this morning. According to reddit user Lindkvist15, this exchange with Deveaux and a reporter occurred after Game 4, before video had surfaced. "It was just a small brawl, things like that happens in the playoffs. It was some guys who said some things and were a bit mad at the center ice." - Deveaux "So you weren't the one who started it?" - Interviewer "No, I didn't. Both teams started it, we yelled a bit at each other and no one was hurt. Everything's fine, I don't remember it too well." - Deveaux Perhaps no one was injured, but not for a lack of trying on the part of Deveaux. There is absolutely no place for stuff like this in our great game.
