During the Winter Classic game between the Pittsburgh Penguins and the Washington Capitals Crosby was taken out by a hit from David Steckel. The incident appeared to be accidental, Steckel was skating back up the ice and Crosby seemingly turned his head into the path of Stecklel's shoulder.
