What would hockey be without big hits? Boring that's what. Although there seems to be less great checks year after year, when they do occur they are breathtaking. It's hockey nature to enjoy a bone-crunching hit. Heck, even players give respect to their fellow combatants after being rocked by a biggie - as long as it was clean. The 2014-2015 NHL season is nearly at an end and unless there happens to be another enormous hit that happens in the next few games these are our choices for biggest hits of the season. It wasn't easy to pick just five awesome ones, but we gave it a shot. Brace yourselves. Stars' Demers flips Kings' Stoll Tere's something about watching a grown man get flipped that just puts a smile on our face. Jason Demers times his hip-check perfectly and sends Jarett Stoll rag dolling through the air. Well done. Blackhawks' Shaw tells Preds' Neal to take a seat. Andrew Shaw sure impressed us with this shift. He shows some slippery footwork to spin around Mike Ribeiro and then dumps Neal into the bench with a little shove for good measure. Smith-Pelley sends T.J Oshie airborne. Montreal Canadiens forward Devante Smith-Pelly, skating as a member of the Anaheim Ducks in this video, unleashes some anger on St. Louis Blues forward T.J. Oshie. The sound as he hits the boards along with the fans exclaiming as the hit happens makes this hit one to remember. "The Essence Disturber" Maple Leafs winger Phil Kessel has had a season to forget, but try as he might, I'm sure he won't be forgetting this one for a while. The Dallas Stars Antoine Roussel shows Kessel what weightlessness feels like by upending him and sending him flying. All aboard Air Kessel! Pens' Evgeni Malkin trucks Rangers Girardi. Malkin was a man on a mission on this shift. Along with chasing down the puck, he absolutely destroys Dan Girardi behind the net by planting his shoulder firmly into his chest, stopping him dead in his tracks. The impact is totally devastating.
